To celebrate the end of my semester (can I get a big hell yeah, from the academic girls like me?), Aaron and I tried a new restaurant. Well, new to us. I have been wanting to try Seasons 52 ever since it opened. They are one of the places I love that does seasonal food with interesting and witty combinations of flavors. Yes, food can be witty. I swear.
I had a salad of autumn greens with portabella mushrooms, Parmesan cheese, and truffle dressing. It was delicious. Aaron's salad was a little better because of his dressing. It was a very light and tangy balsamic dressing on spinach with pears, pine nuts, and Gorgonzola cheese.
He also had a bowl of buffalo chili with black beans and tiny corn cakes. It was awesome, really really awesome, but nothing like my meal. I ordered two appetizers. The very best was the Chipotle-grilled shrimp with guacamole and tomatillo salsa verde. When the shrimp and guac were gone, I actually used my finger to get the last taste of the tomatillo sauce. My second best (but better than everything else in the world) was mushrooms stuffed with crab and shrimp. The had bubbly cheese, and I were better than bacon, I kid you not.
I couldn't even talk while I ate this meal. I would finish off a mushroom and say, "God, this is good," and then keep on eating. Bite of shrimp, moaning sound, bite of shrimp, hands clenched in ecstasy. Conversation is for those who aren't eating at Seasons 52.
